Cell phone; heart of smart city
IUESA: referring to the concept of smart city, Dr. Hossein Mohammadpour Zarandi, the president of IUESA at the conference on smart city said smart city takes advantages of ITC leading to the improvement of citizens’ quality of life along with keeping sustainability feature.
Emphasizing that smart city tries to integrate various data and information, he added the idea of smart city has been discussed since 1994. However, most of the world large companies moved toward being smart after global financial crisis in 2008.
Saying that smart city has six aspects, he said smart economy, smart mobility, smart environment, smart governance, smart people, and smart life are the main components of this idea. It has been implemented in many important cities such as Dubai, Cairo, Singapore, Shanghai, and Tokyo.
According to the statistics in 2013, 150 smart projects were being built in the world. Most of them were in EU, Asia, and North America respectively, he added.
Considering Seoul as one of the pioneer cities regarding smart city, he further said, it has been the best technology-based city in the world after 2010, ranking the first place in e-government.
Entitling smart cell phones as the heart of smart cities, the president of IUESA said the owners of smart cell phones have been reached to 660 million people from 140 million people from 2008 to 2012 in the world; therefore, it seems that smart phone is the main tool of smart city.
One of the applications of mobile phones in smart city is to improve banking system communication with citizens. Digital technologies allow banks to redefine their relations with their clients and to communicate them in a new way based on data and information.
