Where is exactly uptown and downtown in Tehran?

IUESA: 7sobh newspaper has published a report referring to the results of “spatial analysis of prosperity levels in Tehran Metropolis from the perspective of urban economy. Tehran, as the capital, should be developed in the country. Exterior and symbolic indicators also show that  this city has the best situation in development index among other cities, but there is deep gap among its different areas regarding development level. It can be seen objectively and by research results as a research done by Jahanbin Mirzayi, Sajjad Ahmadi, and Akbar Lorestani entitled “spatial analysis of prosperity levels in Tehran Metropolis areas from the perspective of urban economy” in the Quarterly Journal of Urban Economics and Management.

As you know, Tehran has 22 districts. The total amount of area in Tehran   was 75 thousand and 520 hectares in 1388. 8 million and 217 thousand people lived in two million and 373 thousand families. Among the regions, the most extensive areas of the region are 4, 22, and18. District 17 is the smallest in Tehran having only 791 hectares area. The most populated areas in Tehran are districts 4, 5, and 15 and the less populated one is district 22.

The researchers studied 22 indices of development level in different areas of city. 10 of them were related to employment, unemployment, and the relative density of population. Therefore, four districts i.e. 1, 3, 6, and 7 are evaluated as fully developed having the best indexes and district 17 is prospering-less.

There are also nine other indexes including medical centers, fire stations, educational centers, parks, and greengrocers. They are consisted of physical and spatial factors. Only district 6 is fully developed according to this index. Districts 7 and 4 as the largest and most populated ones are prosper-less.

We can say that only district 6 is prosperous or developed district in Tehran. Districts 1, 3, 2, and 7 are half-prosperous, and districts 17, 9, and 19 have been identified as prosper less.
