Wasting 6.3 of Iran’s GDP in accidents/ cities of tomorrow should be built today

Saying that more than 6.3 of Iran’s GDP are wasted because of accidents, Tehran traffic police chief said disorder is the main problem of traffic in metropolises leading to noise and visual pollution and increasing fuel consumption extremely.

Emphasizing that the most important mission of traffic police is ordering this field, he added the purposes of urban economy can be achieved through ordering traffic.

Highlighting that fortunately, good measures have been done in Tehran’s urban transport since last decade and using the abilities of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) has been increased, he further said however, there is a long way to reach ideal condition, but existing thought of Tehran’s urban management and police have created a clear horizon in this field.

Referring to the importance of moving toward the model of “tomorrow city” in Iran’s metropolises, he said it is specified that tomorrow city is originated from deep historical identity of each society; therefore, clear future cannot be considered without regarding cultural identity of cities.
